In his book, The Quick and Easy Way to Effective Speaking, Dale Carnegie says that people evaluate us in four ways: what we say, how we say it, what we do, and how we do it. Some technical presenters are very competent in giving clear dynamic presentations. You leave the presentation with a clear understanding of the message, the desired end result, and key points that you need to remember. On the other hand, many technical presentations are disorganized, hard to follow, and you leave with only a vague idea of the point of the presentation. In this seminar, you take a step-by-step approach to these technical presentations so that you can be sure that your message is clear, your audience stays engaged, and you cover all the relevant points you wish to make.
In this seminar we will begin by with establishing the objectives of our message, and narrowing down to the key points we want to leave with our listeners. Then we will learn a process for technical presentations which include update meetings, briefings up, across and down, as well as technical training sessions. We will finish the day with a process for dealing with confrontational questions. This is among the most difficult of all presentation challenges for many technical professionals.
